Botox / Wrinkle relaxation
Are There Any Side Effects?
Botox injections are a relatively new form of wrinkle relaxation treatment, that said, botox injections have been used in many other forms of medical treatments for well over ten years now. Bruising around the treated area is not uncommon but is usually very mild. Because the medication can sometimes cause weakness of nearby muscles, rarely there can be temporary drooping of the eyelids or temporary headaches. Extremely rarely people can suffer from double vision after treatment. Because Botox injections are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary, only lasting days or weeks.
Do I Need To Take Any Precautions Before Treatment?
You should not have Botox treatments if:
You are pregnant or breast feeding
You have an allergy to botulinium toxin
You have myasthenia gravis
You have neuromuscular disease
You have an allergy to human albumin
How Often Will I Need Treatment?
Treatment will last 3-4 months depending on skin type, area treated and how many previous treatments you have had. There is some evidence to suggest that the duration of benefits do improve with time and future treatments will last longer.
Is It Painful?
You may feel a small amount of discomfort during the treatment, but it is a very quick procedure.
What About Aftercare?
After treatment you should not massage the treated area, this may cause the Botox to spread to the muscles around the eyes. Try to exercise the muscles for 5 hours after the treatment, this helps the Botox to attach to the muscles, also no lying down or leaning forward for a few hours after the treatment. It can take 5-10 days for the treated areas to soften.
